Jessie J has updated fans on her health battle after spending Christmas Eve at the hospital unable to hear or walk straight.
The Price Tag singer returned to social media today to clear up some confusion after she filmed herself singing on social media days after the ordeal.
Jessie said that she did not want any sympathy and was only opening up about her diagnosis of Ménière’s disease because she didn’t want anyone to think she was lying about what happened.
Ménière’s is a progressive condition that causes sudden attacks of dizzy spells, vertigo and loss of hearing – for which there is no cure.
“I have often in the past been open and honest about health challenges I have faced. Big or small. This was no different,” said Jessie in the caption to her latest post.
She told fans that she sang very quietly in the video filmed after her diagnosis and ‘spoke very little’.
“Anyone who watched it knows that’s what happened,” she said.
Alongside her explanation, Jessie shared a video where she discussed what really happened to her on Christmas Eve in more detail.
“I woke up and felt completely deaf in my right ear. I couldn’t walk in a straight line,” she began.
“I got told I have Ménière’s syndrome. I know that a lot of people suffer with it and I’ve actually had a lot of people reach out to me and give me great advice.
“I’m fine though. I’m good. Everyone is like ‘I’m sorry.’ It’s fine, it could be way worse. It is what it is.
“It just threw me off,” she explained. “Like on Christmas Eve I was literally in the ear hospital like, ‘What is going on?’
“I’m grateful that I went early and you know they worked out what it was real quick. I got put on the right medicine and I feel much better today.
“I’m super grateful for my health.” she told fans.
Jessie said that since her health scare she has been lying low and not able to sing to her full potential.
“I just miss singing so much and being around… anyone,” she shared.
Jessie then wished her fans a ‘Merry holiday Christmas season.’
“I’m like ready for bed and I’ve just given up caring at this point in making any kind of effort so this is what I look like,” said the usually glamorous star referring to her scraped-back hair and hoodie.
Jessie then signed off by telling fans: “Appreciate EVERYONE who has taken the time out to check on me, those who have offered advice and support. Thank you. You know who you are. I love you all
It’s been a weird year for all of us.”
Last week, Jessie told her social media followers that ear sounded as though ‘someone crawled in and turned a hair dryer on’ as she spoke about her health condition for the first time.
The former Voice coach said she woke up the day before Christmas to find she was completely deaf in one ear and couldn’t walk straight.
After being seen by doctors, Jessie said she has been put on the right medication and is hoping to feel better soon after having a ‘big cry.’
She also thanked the fans who are battling the same condition for getting in touch with helpful advice after she went public with her terrifying ordeal.
