The John Lewis Christmas advert is highly-anticipated every festive season.
And this year there are whispers that the advertisement – that is always kept under wraps until it makes its TV debut – will feature a song sung by hitmaker Jess Glynne.
According to reports an insider says that Jess is in with a good chance of being the lucky songstress to tie her name to the project due to her “distinctive voice.”
“The John Lewis Christmas Ad marks the beginning of the festive season for a lot of people and there is a lot of pressure for it to be a success,” a source told The Sun.
“The creative team behind it reckon Jess would be a great choice because she has such a distinctive voice.”
They added that a few artists “have also recorded for it” but the final decision will be made in the next few weeks once “everything else is done.”
Last year, the John Lewis visual delight saw Edgar the excitable green dragon team up with his best friend Ava in the run-up to Christmas.
The animated dragon struggled to contain his excitement for Christmas, which resulted in total disaster every time he’s introduced to the other people living in their historical village.
In one part Edgar and Ava joined a group of children to build a snowman but when Edgar attempted to stick a carrot on his chilly pal – he let slip a puff of flame, instantly melting the kids’ creation.
The next scene saw the villagers enjoying their ice-rink, skating round merrily under the crisp winter sky.
But once again, Edgar’s excitement lead to destruction when he accidentally lit up the rink, sending the villagers into freezing slush.
Edgar’s third chance of behaving himself came when the whole community gathered in the village square to admire the lavishly decorated Christmas tree and the pretty lights.
But the dragon couldn’t control himself, despite Ava wrapping a scarf around his snout, and managed to set the tree on fire, burning up all the Christmas decorations.
Close to tears, Edgar fleed from the village, locking himself up at home so he can’t bother anyone else.
It looks like that Edgar was going to give Christmas a miss despite it seemingly being his favourite time of the year.
However, Ava determined to give Edgar the Christmas he’s so desperate to enjoy, knocked on his door bearing a wrapped gift – although her friend was too ashamed to see her.
The last scene of the advert showed the villagers getting together for their annual Christmas feast.
Ava blew a bugle to announce the arrival of their guest of honour – but as Edgar walks in, everyone hid for cover.
The dragon unveiled the present Ava gave him – a perfectly shaped Christmas pudding that gleams in his paws.
As the villagers relaxed, Edgar gently sets the dessert alight with a tiny puff of flame – saving Christmas.
The advert finished with the message: “Show them how much you care.”
