Claudia Winkleman has given fans a rare glimpse into her Central London home and revealed why she doesn’t have mirrors
Claudia Winkleman has given fans a glimpse into her stunning home.
A far cry from the glitz of Strictly, the TV host’s central London property, which she shares with her husband Kris Thykier and children Matilda, Jake and Arthur, boasts classic, neutral interiors with wood paneling on the walls.
The Grade II-listed townhouse is located near Marble Arch where the TV presenter is said to have former Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie as her neighbours.
The Strictly star previously told the Evening Standard of the location: “I can leave my house at 4am and buy a kebab, rent a movie and get some shampoo. I love my shower, my bread bin and our tortoise, Yoshi.”
Claudia, 49, who often shares videos online in front of an enormous white bookcase in her home, recently gave fans even more of a peek in when she shared a snap of her living room.
The space was complete with a pink chair beside large sash windows, which looked out onto a small terrace area shrouded with greenery.
One room has painted wooden panelling on the walls and a snap from Claudia’s son Jake’s birthday also showed off their collection of abstract artwork in his room.
Over the summer, Claudia also shared a video clip of her dining room, which featured red and white striped seating and a large house plant in front of a bay window.
The spacious kitchen, with its plain white walls, wooden floors and wooden island, leads through the downstairs of the house and into the hallway.
The staircase features white wooden stairs, with beige textured carpet running down the middle.
A few years back, Claudia also gave fans a peek of her bathroom as she sat in her white bathtub during a chat with makeup artist Sali Hughes.
The chic bathroom had a white vanity unit, marble paneled walls and flooring and framed black-and-white family photos were featured on the walls.
The shower paneling was in a separate section with white subway tiles on the walls.
However, one thing you won’t find adorning the walls are mirrors.
Claudia’s mother, former newspaper editor Eve Pollard, drilled in her that focusing on one’s appearance was a “waste of time”.
Speaking of her distinctive style, which has seen her compared to rocker Alice Cooper, Claudia, said: “I was brought up by the strongest and most brilliant woman I’ve ever come across – my mum.
“She was strong and fantastic and taught me everything I needed to know in being female.
“We weren’t allowed any mirrors in the house, which would explain how I do my makeup… and the fact I look like I’ve slept in a skip.”
Showing off her home isn’t the only thing, the normally private star has shared with fans lately.
During an appearance on BBC game show The Wheel, she confessed that she thought her wedding dress was “disgusting” in footage aired last Saturday.
The show saw contestant Antonia hope to win the £21, 500 cash prize and buy her own wedding dress.
When she gave the wrong answer, a sympathetic Claudia told the contestant: “I am going to buy you a wedding dress because I don’t think that’s the right answer.
“Mine was disgusting so I won’t lend it to you, but that’s what we’re going to do.”
At the end of the show, it was revealed that the presenter made good and took Antonia on a shopping trip to find her dream gown.
Claudia herself had an intimate secret wedding in London in 2000.
