Holly Willoughby’s husband claimed up to £10,000 in furlough money despite their huge fortunes.
The This Morning presenter’s husband Dan Baldwin, who is a TV producer, runs television production company Hungry Bear Media, which is valued at £2million.
He got the taxpayers’ money in December last year, which he was entitled to do under the furlough scheme, according to figures.
Dan, 46, and Holly, 40, who have been married since 2007, are thought to have a combined worth of around £13million.
While Dan was entitled to use the furlough scheme and did nothing wrong, some members of the general public feel uncomfortable with wealthier people using furlough to pay their employees.
Dan also runs Hungry McBear Ltd, which is based in Scotland, with comedian Michael McIntyre.
Accounts for that company show it had £1.7m cash in the bank in 2019.
Dan is also a director of Holly’s company Roxy Media Ltd, thought to be valued at around £10m.
Latest accounts for Roxy Media Ltd show that Holly earned nearly £1.5million in 2019 and 2020.
Meanwhile, Holly is believed to earn £600,000 a year from This Morning.
Her other lucrative presenting gigs include Dancing On Ice, plus her new Saturday night show with Bradley Walsh called Take Off.
Latest figures for Hungry Bear filed in January show that has almost £1m cash and assets.
The TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “Some businesses have repaid the support.
“They should serve as an example for firms that have come through the past year in rude health.”
The Mirror has contacted Hungry Bear and is awaiting comment. A rep for Holly Willoughby declined to comment.
Holly has been married to Dan, who was a producer on one of her earliest shows Ministry of Mayhem, for 14 years.
They also worked together on Celebrity Juice, in which she starred as a team captain from 2008 until last year.
The couple are parents to three children: Harry, 12, Belle, 10, and six-year-old Chester.
Holly’s new show Take Off started this weekend.
Her This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield joked about her going off with “another man” as she hosts the show with The Chase host Bradley after finishing on the ITV show for the summer.
Appearing on The One Show, Phil said: “Wow, that happened quickly. We break up for the summer and the next thing I know you’re with another man!
“It’s fine, I’m obviously devastated but I want the dog and the CD collection.”
