Ed Sheeran has treated his adoring admirers to some rare insight into the most personal milestone in his life.
The 29-year-old hit-maker has shared some details of his trip to Antarctica where he and his wife Cherry are believed to have conceived their daughter Lyra Antarctica last Christmas.
The Give Me Love hit-maker has released a brand-new track in a bid to champion the Christmas charts this year.
Ed’s latest ballad Afterglow debuted on Monday after he teased it late on Sunday night – much to the delight of his loyal fanbase.
The track captures the singer’s whirlwind trip to Antarctica alongside his long-term love Cherry.
And surprisingly, the private star has shared some rather intimate details of the getaway.
Unveiling his comeback single, Ed explained: “Afterglow is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you.
“It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy! Back to Dad land for me now, ciao x.”
The stunning song about his beloved wife features the lyrics: “Stop the clocks, it’s amazing, you should see the way the light dances off your hair.
“A million colours of hazel, golden and red, Saturday morning is fading.
“The sun’s reflected by the coffee in your hand, my eyes are caught in your gaze all over again.”
The Sussex-born singer also croons: “We were love drunk waiting on a miracle, trying to find ourselves in the winter snow.
“So alone in love like the world had disappeared, Oh I won’t be silent and I won’t let go. I will hold on tighter, ’til the afterglow.”
Since its release at 11am on Monday morning, Afterglow has already raked up Afterglow racked up millions of plays since debuting on YouTube and streaming platforms.
Ed and Cherry welcomed their precious daughter in September.
“We are completely in love with her…we are on cloud nine” said the singer.
At the time, he told his followers on Instagram that “both mum and baby are doing amazing.”
