Dr Dre is officially a single man – but his bitter divorce battle with ex Nicole Young is still far from over.
It’s reported that a judge is set to sign off and legally end the former couple’s marriage, but there are still things to be settled.
Legal documents obtained by The Blast state that lawyers for the pair filed a “judgement” after they both agreed to sign off on the “status” of their divorce.
And while the financial part of the case is still to be settled, it means that the rapper – real name Andre Romelle Young – and Nicole, who he married in 1996, are officially single and clear to get married again in the eyes of the law.
Now, a judge just needs to sign off on the agreement.
Dre, 56, and Nicole, 51, agreed to legally end their marriage on April 15, but the financial issues that have caused them much disagreement are still ongoing.
He asked the judge to “bifurcate” the status of their divorce several weeks ago, and it’s said that she made no objections as she was just as keen as he was to no longer be married.
They’re still trying to come to an agreement over their huge $800 million fortune, with Dre saying she shouldn’t get any of it and Nicole asking for half the money.
Dr filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences in June last year, after 24 years of marriage.
The former couple have two grown up children – son Truice, 23, and daughter Truly, 19.
Dr Dre is a father of six, by five different women.
He was just 16 when he met then-girlfriend Cassandra Joy Green and had their first child together, a son named Curtis, who he reportedly didn’t meet until 20 years later.
Dre’s son Andre Young Jr tragically died in 2008 at the age of 20. He had been at the centre of a huge paternity dispute, with his mother Jenita Porter, filed a lawsuit seeking $5,000 a month in child support.
Dre is also dad to son Marcel, who he shares with singer Michel’le.
He also has a daughter named La Tanya.
Since filing for divorce, Dre suffered a life-threatening brain aneurism.
In January, it was said that he’d agreed to hand $2m over to Nicole to help cover her living expenses until they can come to an agreement over a final figure.
The Mirror has contacted Dre’s representatives for comment.
