Chanelle Hayes has taken to social media to unveil a dramatic transformation after she managed to beat a food addiction and lose seven stone.
The 33-year-old former Big Brother star, who shot to fame when she appeared on the show in 2007, revealed to fans that her eating had spiralled during the first lockdown leaving her ‘morbidly obese’.
At one point last year, Chanelle was a size 18 and she was left with low mood and self-esteem as a result. In a previous interview, she had admitted to living like a ‘hermit’ and rarely left home after her weight soared.
Alongside her latest candid Instagram post, in which she shared a before and after snap of her weight loss journey, Chanelle explained that she underwent a gastric sleeve surgery last year after she began suffering with knee and hip pain.
“I have been so nervous to post my “before” shots because I was in such a low place mentally and physically when I was this size,” she wrote.
“My addiction to food really spiralled through the first lockdown and my weight reached 17st4lb which was morbidly obese for my height 5ft4in. I’m now in the “normal” BMI range at a weight of 10st1lb and a total loss so far of 101lb in weight.
Chanelle also added that her mental health had been affected and she felt a lot of ‘shame’ about her size.
The reality star continued: “My mental health took such a battering from me having zero self confidence, disgust at myself for not being able to stop myself eating, and shame that I was this size incase my children’s friends commented on it and embarrassed them.

“I was tired walking up the stairs, suffered from constant hip and knee pain and had a resting heart rate that was almost 90! The strain my weight was putting on my body was so unhealthy and daunting.
Chanelle then went on to reveal that she had sought our surgery to help her with her weight gain and she was ‘grateful’ for how it had changed her life.
The surgery meant she had a large part of her stomach removed to limit her food intake.
“On 1st August 2020 I had gastric sleeve surgery with @tonicsurgery and have never looked back since. I didn’t have surgery because I am lazy or uneducated about how to be healthy,” she continued.
“I was an addict and felt completely powerless. Tonic gave me a tool and physically restrained me from the huge amount of bingeing I would do. They speak to me regularly to update exercise plans, nutritional requirements and check on my mental health, giving me ways to behave in a healthier way around food. This procedure has really given me my life back. I am so so grateful.”
Chanelle was inundated with support and compliments from her followers after bravely sharing the before and after snaps.
Following her gastric surgery, Chanelle – who is also a proud mum of two – has also revealed she is not putting her focus into training to be a nurse.
