All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (January 2025)
With the new year looming, Pokémon GO is keeping its players on their toes with many new raids and an expansion of the holiday time bonuses and other perks. While there are several new holiday versions of different Pokémon, many players are still hunting more elusive creatures. Ditto, a normal but unique Pokémon, has become a bit of a chore to find for many players. Ditto is capable of transforming into different Pokémon based on a rotating list, compared to having a full Pokédex at its disposal like other transforming Pokémon like Zorua.
The capture method for Ditto being on a scaling list of Pokémon has been around since the game’s launch, but can still be a bit of a chore. Since Ditto appears as a fairly normal Pokémon, they are easily missed since it can be harder to find a Ditto in Pokémon GO if you aren’t keeping up with the changes that are made to the rotating monthly list. Casual players who don’t stay up to date on Ditto news can have a harder time hunting for these purple creatures.
All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (January 2025)
11 Different Disguises
Starting off January 2025 strong, the Ditto disguises in Pokémon GO are the following 11 Pokémon that span across several generations: Oddish, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Goldeen, Spinarak, Numel, Bidoof, Solosis, Gothita, Bergmite, and Stufful. This list includes the same selection of Ditto disguises for August through December 2024, as it has not changed recently. This is a good thing for more casual players finding one of the more elusive purple blobs, as it grows increasingly more likely that you’ll run into one of these Pokémon, even if you are playing only every once in a while.
A Ditto will return to its true form when you try to catch it, accompanied by “Oh?” appearing on-screen.
The best way to try to identify a Ditto before catching it is to pay attention to the CP threshold for the Pokémon that you are trying to catch. Pokémon, for example, Rhyhorn or Koffing, have a CP that is higher based on your Trainer Level compared to the level of a Ditto. If you are around Trainer Level 40, the maximum CP for a Ditto is only 931, while others like Numels and Rhyhorns have higher maximum CPs that are over 1600 at Level 40.
How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto
Incense & PokéStops
There is no sure way to increase any Pokémon’s chance of spawning in Pokémon GO, but Incense is the best way to increase the chance for more total Pokémon to appear around you altogether. There are different kinds of Incense available, including Pokémon GO’s free Daily Incense that lasts for 15 minutes and can be used once a day, or other paid Incense that can be purchased with PokéCoins. Getting out and about while using the Daily Incense can lead to more effective hunts for a Ditto because of the overall increased spawn rate.
For players who are more active or who happen to live near a PokéStop, Lures can be a very effective way to gain more chances at catching a Ditto. Each Lure increases the in-game spawn time rates for the set area for around 30 minutes, so utilizing your Daily Incense and a Lure together can create a good area to hunt for a Ditto. Staying up to date on Ditto disguises, especially for Pokémon that can be easily overlooked, like Bidoof, Stufful, or Oddish can make the hunt for a Ditto a tad easier in Pokémon GO.
