25 Abortion Protest Signs to Bring to a Rally

The Supreme Court has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that found that access to abortion is a constitutional right.

The decision has not yet gone into effect—abortion is still legal. But the abortion rights movement, led by women, is not about to wait quietly and see what happens. There are a number of things that anyone feeling choked with horror right now can do. Sharmin Hossain, campaign director at Liberate Abortion, told Glamour this week that one impactful act is to support National Network of Abortion Funds. Ob-gyn Kate White, MD, and nurse practitioner Molly Finneseth have written clear, direct instructions on how to prepare for the rollback of Roe.

And many of us feel ready to hit the streets. Already, in cities around the country, people are protesting for abortion rights in response to the Roe news. Protests are opportunities for communal gathering, momentum building, learning, grieving, connection making, and signaling the power behind a cause to public officials. Protests are where new leaders are born, artists are inspired, and a watching public is influenced. Not everyone is a protest person—some people prefer to use their energy in other meaningful ways for the cause. But for many people, protests are cathartic and useful. To find your local abortion rights rallies, you can sign up for a newsletter at liberateabortion.org—it’s regularly updated with events.

It can be hard to channel a lifetime of rage and grief with a piece of cardboard and a few Sharpies. So we gathered some of our all-time favorite abortion protest signs—the funny signs, the catchy signs, the classic signs, the signs so painful it hurts just to glance at them. There’s room for every emotion at an abortion rights rally or protest.

Get those biceps going, team. We’ll see you out there.
