Thanks for all the comments highlighting deals you’ve spotted! There are some great sales on this week.
Wolf Rain by Nalini Singh is $1.99 – and this might be a Kindle Daily Deal so go, go, go! I did an epic read-through of the Psy-Changeling series from December 2020 through January 2021, and this was one of my favorites. There’s yearning, monumental impediments to the protagonists’ connection, badassery, and the usual, delightful emphasis on compassion and empathy, the latter much more overt. If you like this series, this is a terrific deal – and the next book is out in July!
Thanks to Ruth L. for the heads up: Steadfast by Sarina Bowen is .99! Ruth recommends this title, saying, “This is the second book in the “True North” series and it’s one of the best. It’s also one that can be read most independently from the others. Warning: it’s dark and deals with addiction, including the rural opiate crisis, and family issues.”
She’s the only one who ever loved him—and the only one he can never have.
Jude lost everything one spring day when he crashed his car into an apple tree on the side of the road. A man is dead, and there’s no way he can ever right that wrong. He’d steer clear of Colebury, Vermont forever if he could. But an ex-con in recovery for his drug addiction can’t find a job just anywhere.
For Sophie Haines, coming face to face with the man who broke her heart is gut-wrenching. Suddenly, he’s everywhere she turns. It’s hard not to stare at how much he’s changed. The bad boy who used to love her didn’t have big biceps and sun-kissed hair. And he’d never turn up volunteer in the church kitchen.
She knows it’s foolish to yearn for the man who returned all the heartsick letters she wrote him in prison. But the looks he sends her now speak volumes.
No one wants to see Sophie and Jude back together, least of all Sophie’s police chief father. But it’s a small town. And forbidden love is a law unto itself.
Recipe for Persuasion
Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev is $2.99! This is book two in her series of Austen tributes, and obviously is her spin on Persuasion. This book has a 3.7-star average, and Catherine Heloise reviewed it when it came out. I usually recommend Dev’s books by saying that, no matter what the colors of the cover might attempt to convey, the story will slowly extract your heart through your ribs by centimeter increments. They pack a hefty emotional wallop, as this one does.
From the author of Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors comes another , clever, deeply layered, and heartwarming romantic comedy that follows in the Jane Austen tradition—this time, with a twist on Persuasion.
Chef Ashna Raje desperately needs a new strategy. How else can she save her beloved restaurant and prove to her estranged, overachieving mother that she isn’t a complete screw up? When she’s asked to join the cast of Cooking with the Stars, the latest hit reality show teaming chefs with celebrities, it seems like just the leap of faith she needs to put her restaurant back on the map. She’s a chef, what’s the worst that could happen?
Rico Silva, that’s what.
Being paired with a celebrity who was her first love, the man who ghosted her at the worst possible time in her life, only proves what Ashna has always believed: leaps of faith are a recipe for disaster.
FIFA winning soccer star Rico Silva isn’t too happy to be paired up with Ashna either. Losing Ashna years ago almost destroyed him. The only silver lining to this bizarre situation is that he can finally prove to Ashna that he’s definitely over her.
But when their catastrophic first meeting goes viral, social media becomes obsessed with their chemistry. The competition on the show is fierce…and so is the simmering desire between Ashna and Rico. Every minute they spend together rekindles feelings that pull them toward their disastrous past. Will letting go again be another recipe for heartbreak—or a recipe for persuasion…?
In Recipe for Persuasion, Sonali Dev once again takes readers on an unforgettable adventure in this fresh, fun, and enchanting romantic comedy.
The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You
The Highly Sensitive Person: How to Thrive When the World Overwhelms You by Elaine Aron, PhD, is $2.99 today as a KDD. I haven’t spotted any price matching yet, but fingers crossed.
I purchased this book back in 2014, and have recommended it a few times. It explains what it means to be a highly sensitive person (hi) and offers coping mechanisms and strategies to help soothe yourself (yes please!) when you’re feeling completely overwhelmed (indeed). I’ve used the methods in this book for a long time and recommend it as a starting point to figuring out your own strategies for dealing with *gestures widely* everything.
ARE YOU A HIGHLY SENSITIVE PERSON?
Do you have a keen imagination and vivid dreams? Is time alone each day as essential to you as food and water? Are you noted for your empathy? Your conscientiousness? Do noise and confusion quickly overwhelm you? If your answers are yes, you may be a highly sensitive person (HSP) and Dr. Elaine Aron’s The Highly Sensitive Person is the life-changing guide you’ll want in your toolbox.
Over twenty percent of people have this amazing, innate trait. Maybe you are one of them. A similar percentage is found in over 100 species, because high sensitivity is a survival strategy. It is also a way of life for HSPs.
In this 25th anniversary edition of the groundbreaking classic, Dr. Elaine Aron, a research and clinical psychologist as well as an HSP herself, helps you grasp the reality of your wonderful trait, understand your past in the light of it, and make the most of it in your future. Drawing on her many years of study and face-to-face time spent with thousands of HSPs, she explains the changes you will need to make in order to lead a fuller, richer life.
Along with a new Author’s Note, the latest scientific research, and a fresh discussion of anti-depressants, this edition of The Highly Sensitive Person is more essential than ever for creating the sense of self-worth and empowerment every HSP deserves and our planet needs.
