This Might Be The First (And Only) Manual 992 Porsche 911 Carrera

Released back in 2006, the Disney Pixar Movie ‘Cars’ was successful enough to spawn two sequels, two spin-offs, a television series, and an entire section of Disney’s California Adventure theme park. The main trilogy is centered around Lightning McQueen, an anthropomorphic race car, voiced by Owen Wilson, who meets his love interest Sally Carrera, a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera voiced by Bonnie Hunt.

To mark Sally’s 20-year birthday, Porsche has teamed up with Pixar to create the movie design on a brand-new 992 generation Carrera. What began as a “what if?” project is now becoming a reality.

Design sketches for the project were revealed at the 2022 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, and work on the car has already begun at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen. Judging by the sketches, Porsche will recreate the baby blue color offered in the 996 generation (which Sally was based on) and build some unique wheels that harken back to the 2002 model. Of course, Sally will keep her pinstripe tattoo under the rear wing. Sadly, the 996’s fried egg headlights won’t be recreated on the 992.
